Applications completed after the deadline will be held on file in case a second lottery is needed to fill seats for the 2025-26 School Year. Our lottery for the 2025-2026 school year will be held on Friday, March 7th. All applicants were notified of their application status via email. If your student has been placed on the waitlist, you can also expect to receive updates on the status of your application via email.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You must submit proof of Springfield residency in order for this application to be considered complete. To do so, please send or deliver two documents that include the parent/guardian name and address (e.g., lease, utility bill, driver’s license).

We will continue to accept applications and, if necessary, will conduct a second lottery prior to the start of the school year.  Applicants drawn in the second lottery (if necessary) will be added to the waitlist but will be placed after all students whose applications were entered in the first lottery.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Enrollment is based on a random, public lottery. Children residing in Springfield receive priority over other applicants.  Springfield Prep, like all charter schools in Massachusetts, is a FREE and PUBLIC school that is open to ALL students, regardless of prior academic achievement, special education need, or primary language.

  • All Springfield students are eligible to apply to Springfield Prep. SPCS serves grades K-8. To apply for kindergarten, students must be 5 years old on September 1st. To apply for first grade, students must have successfully completed kindergarten.

  • To apply, please complete the application form and submit it to our office. We will contact you in writing to let you know that we have received your child’s application. Applications may be submitted in one of three ways:

    • In person – Drop the application off at 2071 Roosevelt Avenue, Springfield, MA 01104

    • Online – see links above.

    • By mail – Mail the application to our office at the address above.

  • Our principal lottery for the 25-26 school year will be held virtually on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 2:00 pm. All details about the lottery are posted on this website at least one month in advance of the event. We will continue to accept applications and will conduct a second lottery prior to the start of the school year if necessary.

    Our lotteries are open to the public, though attendance at the lottery has no impact on a student’s chances of being selected. Following the lottery, the school will contact all families via email and notify them of their child’s status and will contact them by phone as well if they have been admitted.

  • All children not accepted will be placed on a waiting list. You only need to apply once. Please make sure to let Springfield Prep know if your contact information changes so that we can get in touch with you should a spot open up.
