Associate Teacher Program

Consider our Associate Teacher Program

Want to make an impact with kids? Passionate about education but new to the field?

Our Associate Teacher program was designed to help you launch your career in education. Through a gradual approach to classroom leadership, exposure to varying content and age groups, and weekly coaching and professional development, our programming will help you find your voice in the classroom. Hear from former Associate Teacher, Autumn Hinson, about how she got her start in education at Springfield Prep!

Gradual Approach to Classroom Leadership

Similar to a med student’s first year in residency, ATs will tackle gradually increasing teaching responsibilities so that they are ultimately able to lead instruction with confidence and independence.

Being an Associate Teacher has been the most rewarding experience as someone new to the education field. I have learned so much from practice working with differentiated small groups and observing some of the city’s most talented and experienced educators. I couldn’t have asked for a better first-year teaching.
— Arianna Perez, Middle School Humanities Associate Teacher

Coaching and Professional Development

ATs receive extensive training and support, including one-on-one coaching and weekly PD in order to develop the skills needed for successful classroom teaching.

My teaching coach has helped me in more ways than I can explain. I have grown so much in my role since last year. I think this is one real advantage of being an Associate Teacher. You are given the time, grace, and feedback needed to become better at what you do.
— Madeline Morin, Upper Elementary Associate Teacher

Essential to the Team: Your Impact

Associate Teachers add value across the school by leading academic support lessons with small groups, managing lunch and recess duties, and covering classes when needed.

Who Are We Looking For?

We are looking for prospective educators who are passionate about making a difference for Springfield students and are ready to work hard to help students fulfill their potential.

No formal teaching experience, but aspiring to lead the classroom?

Formal teacher training is not required. However, the ideal candidate is excited to transition into a lead classroom teacher role once they’ve completed our program.

Do you share key identities with our scholars?

One of Springfield Prep's top priorities is to have a team of educators that is both diverse and reflective of our students. Since we opened our doors in 2015, the Associate Teacher Program has helped us to ensure that our students have educators who share their identities and backgrounds.
